London Pet Show
7th and 8th May 2011, held at the National Hall, Olympia London.
The organizers, via the Kennel Club, have asked a few dog exhibitors/breeders from every group to take part in this show this weekend and Rough Collies have been chosen from the Pastoral group. As we man the Rough Collie booth at Discover Dogs at Earls Court every November we have been asked to do the same here so the public can come in & have hands on with our dogs & get any information & help they require.
Anyone interested in going can get more information from www.londonpetshow.co.uk All pets will be on show including cats, all little furries, birds etc. This should be a great day out for families especially children.
Update
Wow did we have an exhausting day at the London Pet show at Olympia!! the organisers said they had triple the amount of people expected, they guessed around 25,000 came, it was well organised, similar to Discover Dogs (& just as noise deafening) with a main ring holding lots of events inc. Mary Ray's dancing dogs, flyball etc. & a lots of stalls, but then there were the cats, birds (some beautiful owls) fish, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats & rabbits (these I could have taken home!) I believe pigs were there too & meerkats but we were too busy to leave our booth to see everything. Well what can I say about the dogs - they were so well behaved. There were a lot of disabled people visiting & I was so pleased that my older girl stood still for a disabled deaf & blind man to fuss her & he was so appreciative, The dogs were many times surrounded by very small chidren stroking every part of them, some frightened of dogs, so they would only stroke their tails providing they didn't move! A few older ones wanted to have a go at grooming so the dogs were only to happy to oblige. Temperament wise, they were such great ambassors for our breed. Our leaflets on the breed Living with the Rough Collie, Health Schemes available, & Grooming the Rough Collie were fast disappearing! As we were a bit restricted for space Rob & Margaret Shipp came with Holly (18mths.) & I took Cindy (6yrs.) & Amy (11mths.). Tomorrow we have Shirley Daley with Max & Shelley & Maria Ducasse with JJ. So hope they have a fab day too.
Val Tame.
