NAVAN
CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW
SATURDAY 16TH AUGUGT 2008
My thanks to the club for the invitation and to the exhibitors for a
very nice entry and for the sporting way in which they accepted what
are sometimes difficult decisions. My compliments also to the exhibitors
for turning out their dogs in such good order in what were challenging
conditions.
PUPPY DOG
1. O’NEILLS - CARONLEA LORD OF THE DANCE.
Beyond promising as although just 11 months old he made his presence
felt in the challenge and I could in fact have also happily awarded
him the green star. His breeding came as no surprise, the quality of
his head, clean cheeks, flat skull , sweet eye and expression; the good
bone and nicely angulated rear quarters with strong well let down hocks…
Moved out well also. Has a bright future.
2. CARRS - DONOHILL THE MAESTRO.
Nice dark eye, appealing expression , clean in head and also turned
out very well. The winner projected himself a little more with slightly
better neck but this is also a handsome and promising puppy with again
good bone and moving steadily.
JUNIOR DOG
1. WARES - CALL ME DYNAMITE DE LA CHAPELLE DES ARBRES.
Nice looking tricolour. Saw his sire some years ago in France and I
could see echoes of him again here in that soft moulded foreface, good
stop and expressive eyes. Another nicely boned with tight feet, showed
and moved well. I believe only a recent arrival . Confident young man
who could also have an interesting future.
INTERMEDIATE DOG
1. CARRS/COLCLOUGHS - BRILYN CELTIC GOLD
The cleanest of heads to handle. True wedge, well filled muzzle, really
flat skull. Getting his ears just about high enough, would have preferred
to see him out doors but the soft expression is there. Another who is
masculine but absolutely no trace of coarseness. Moved nicely for me
and in good coat and condition. RES GREEN STAR DOG.
2. CONWAYS - ALWAYCON HIP HOP
Handsome exhibit with nice length of head, smooth cheeks , good ears,
nice expression also but had strong competition in that. Upstanding
with good substance. Moved well in front , well enough but just slightly
less so going away today but I imagine he will shape up into a good
prospect for the future.
OPEN DOG
1. TIMMINS - KYNAN VANILLA SKY.
Good head length, nice dark eye, clean wedge. Mature and presented in
a wealth of well groomed very straight coat and looking the part and
yet I feel his best is yet to come, i suspect he will continue to clear
just that fraction more between the eyes and his nice expression will
be all the more appealing. A dog however that should always be there
or there abouts , his nice length right through gave him a nice stride
and he scored well here in movement.
2. NICHOLSONS - LOMANDVALE MORNING MIST.
Liked the headpiece on this one, clean stop,
Very nice expression, good ears well used, good for size and bone and
again moved nicely for me from all angles. Another I would have preferred
to go over in more relaxed surrounding. I think he will have better
days, nice looking dog.
CHAMPION DOG
1 .O‘NEILL - CH LYNMEAD LUST AFTER ME AT CARONLEA

Blessed with the most lovely head pattern. Balanced, smooth well filled
foreface, with good stop and when he brings his neat well placed ears
up it produces an expression which I could not resist.. Not a big lad
but essentially masculine of course with nice bone and moving out well
on nice tight feet. Did have some strong competition here today not
least from his own kennel mate but a worthy champion to whom I was pleased
to award GREEN STAR DOG.
2. SEALES - CH ROWLAND PRINCE OF BELLVILLE.
Nice dog to handle, also carries his title well. Upstanding sable with
good quality head , nicely made and moved and performed well. Nice expression
, just unlucky to meet the winner with respect to that however.
PUPPY BITCH
1. FARRELLS - AMALIE SURPRISE AT BELRAH
Quite pretty , very feminine, well coated and presented sable who stood
and showed very steadily and moved well on the rear on well let down
hocks.
2. MULLANS - VALLEYHAVEN CHANTILLY LACE
Another pretty puppy ,different in type ,but of no less quality . good
bone on this one, better for neck. Though at first glance she might
go higher and I actually had the opportunity to see her continue to
settle as the day progressed . Could easily switch places .
JUNIOR BITCH
1 TIERNANS - CARONLEA DIXIE CHICK AT VALEO
Charming tri bitch who standing really appealed to me . Pretty moulded
headpiece, balanced, .good stop and really dark sweet eyes and good
ears all producing a lovely expression. Better angulation on the rear
with well turned stifle and neat strong hocks.
2. WARES -TVINGFIELDS GOLDFINGER AT WASSAIL
Winner getting her ears just that bit higher and giving me that little
bit extra in expression but this was also a useful looking youngster.
Clean in cheeks, quite nicely made , good coat ,well presented.
INTERMEDIATE BITCH
1.HODSONS -MOYHILL RUBY TUESDAY
Little or nothing between any of the bitches in this class and difficult
to separate them. This lady -good head length, balanced, sound looking
bitch standing and on the move doesn’t disappoint with good reach,
nice topline and positive on the rear. One who should always be worth
a second look.
2, NICOLSONS - LOMONDVALE LOVE BUG
Pretty head,, I liked her eye and expression, nice neck , nice angulation
on rear too , in good coat and condition and handled to advantage.
Moved quite well also , pressed hard by the third here . Three nicely
balanced bitches.
OPEN BITCH
1. WALLS - SOLE SURVIVOR AT DALIYHAA.
Judged her last as a very raw minor puppy. Said then that there was
nothing I would change about her head and that is still the case. Beautifully
moulded, full of appeal . Today before me as a fully mature bitch with
the outline clear now to complete the picture and moving out well with
purpose and drive. In good coat, which now flatters her outline and
with nice body and substance whilst still retaining her femininity and
even if she doesn't excel in colour there is so much else to commend
her that given fair judgement she should have no difficulty in attaining
her title. GREEN STAR BITCH AND BEST OF BREED.
2.TIERNANS - VALEO BRONTE BELLE
In contrast this one completely new to me, a bitch needing nothing now
but “finish”.
Steady, sound, solid bitch but feminine with it. Lovely head to handle,
liked the expression and moved so soundly and needed to too with strong
competition from the third here also. Bronte Belle - also surely a champion
in the making. Expertly handled.
Again my thanks to all and best wishes for the future.
