I was really thrilled to have been asked to judge this special 80th Anniversary Show and thank the committee for their superb hospitality. The entry was terrific and I was impressed with the overall quality of the dogs and the sportsmanship of the competitors.

BABY PUPPY DOG OR BITCH 2
1st O’NEILL’S CARONLEA B WITCHED RAF

5 ½ mth S/W bitch. Promising baby, very pretty head, well placed stop, oblique eye and nicely tipped ears. Good bone, heart and lung room and body well proportioned. Her show stance and her movement for one so young was very good and she was nicely marked with a good coat coming. 2nd CARR’S DONOHILL SUNDANCER. Another pretty S/W bitch just under 6 mths, a little less mature but nicely made with good bone. Needs to tighten up on movement but then she is only a baby. Also very nicely marked with a good coat on the way.

MINOR PUPPY DOG 6 (1A)
1st & B.P. KELLY’S BALLAHANNA BELFAST BOY RAF Flashy, very masculine 8 ½ mth S/W. Nicely balanced head in proportion with body, super ears , well placed stop & eye, nicely rounded muzzle, good bone. Body proportions and length of back good. Would like him a fraction slimmer but he did move and show very well.
2nd NICHOLSON’S LOMONVALE MORNING MIST RAF.

Another nice S/W 8 mths old with a good head and neck and overall body shape. A little shorter in back than 1. Well boned, showed well but needs to strengthen up behind.

PUPPY DOG 2
1st SEALE’S ROWLANDS GEORGIE BOY tri of 10 mths unfortunately not in best coat but had a balanced head shape, good length of neck, back and nice bodyshape. He had adequate bone and moved well.
2nd PHILLIP’S STARLENGA PADDINGTON BEAR AT PHILJANCO. 6 mths S/W still very much a baby for this class and has some maturing to do but has plenty of time yet.

JUNIOR DOG 2
1st FRYER-CLARK, STANLEY & EVANS’ HIGHNOL IMPERIAL GOLD AT VONARKLE. Attractive 14 mth S/W dog. Sweet head & expression with well placed almond eye. Nice stance and good topline. Very flashy markings and though a little lacking in coat was very well presented. Moved freely, was a little nervous but showed well most of the time.

GRADUATE DOG 3
1st SEALE’S ROWLANDS PRINCE OF BELVILLE 18 mth S/W Good looking lithe dog with balanced head planes, good stop, nicely rounded muzzle, oblique almond eye giving a dreamy expression. Well constructed body, good straight legs viewed from fore and aft, right amount of bone. Firm topline and moved well and freely. Not a very good showman but won his class on movement.
2nd MARKESKY’S PEPTIDE CHIVES Lovely coloured shaded sable of 21 mths. Active dog but a little light weight. Balanced head planes, nice eye and expression and well positioned alert ears. Good length of neck and back and kept a firm topline on the move. Really nice stance when showing.
3rd ASHE’S HANVALE THE BESTMAN AT FOREST WALK.

LIMIT DOG 6 (1A)
A very nice class of quality dogs.
1st & Res.Dog GS FORREST’S ESKMUIR ACE OF ELEGANCE 2 ½ yo S/W. Lovely, clean head and well proportioned body in balance with each other. Super almond eye, correct stop, nice shaped muzzle and lovely alert ears. Had a good length of neck and back, firm topline held on the move, nice lay of shoulder, curve of stifle, good bone. He was a super free mover, tracking well and showed non-stop.
2nd MARKESKY’S PEPTIDE BUTTER DOWN BEN a nice 5yo dog sadly losing his coat in all the wrong places. He has balanced head planes, very nice expression, good muzzle and perfect ears. Bodyshape well balanced, a lovely stance, good bone moved and showed very well.
3rd FLINT’S HIGHNOL FUTURE VISION.

Another quality class.
1st & Dog GS FLINT’S VONARKLE TUDOR KNIGHT

Lovely masculine 7 yo shaded sable. Strongly built, excellent bone, in super condition and coat. Balanced head, correct eye, stop and ears, rounded muzzle and a gentle expression. Lovely long neck and proportional length of back, firm topline, good sloping shoulder and curve of stifle. Moved out really well with a strong reachy stride and plenty of drive from behind, tracking well. Showed non-stop never taking his eyes off his handler. Very pleased to award him the Green Star but sorry he missed the photo shot at the end.
2nd HOLLYWOOD AND FARRELL’S AMALIE BACK IN BLACK. Nearly 3 years old, he is a handsome jet black tri, very nice balanced head with correctly placed eye, stop and ears when he used them. Though not as tall as 1 he is well built with good bone, balanced bodyshape, good angulation. He moved freely, showed well though not consistently.

VETERAN DOG OR BITCH 3 (2A)
1st THOMSON’S STEELHURST SECRET PASSION AT LOMONDVALE (Bitch) Stood alone but a worthy winner. Rich coloured shaded S/W 8 year old but looked younger. Well proportioned throughout, with a pretty, feminine head, correctly placed eye and stop, super ear carriage, well rounded muzzle. Nice length of neck and back, lay of shoulder and curve of stifle. Very alert, good show stance and moved well.

It was nice to see these competitors concentrating so hard on their dogs. They all did very well.


MINOR PUPPY BITCH 4 ( 2A)1st McNALLY’S COPAMAGE JASMINE S/W 8 ½ mths Promising soundly built puppy. Well placed eye, stop and neatly tipped ears. Good neck and length of back and very nice tail carriage. Well laid shoulder and curve of stifle and in good coat. Moved and showed well.
2nd MACRAE’S ROANBURN CHERRY CAKE AT BENUASAL RAF,
8 mth flashily marked S/W. Slower to mature than 1, ear set a little wide. Good length neck, back and general proportions. Moved willingly but needs to muscle up a bit more, nicely presented. Showed OK.

PUPPY BITCH 4 (2A)1st BALL’S DONOHILL DURHAM LADY S/W 1 day under 12 mths. Very feminine, nice eye, well placed stop. Ears very light but did actually tip when looking ahead and not up. She had right amount of bone for size, good width of chest and nice spring of rib, was in good coat, moved well and showed OK.
2nd PETTIT’S LOWERPARK RING O’ ROSES shaded s/w 8 mths old. Head pattern not so mature as 1 and not yet balanced. Ears well placed and nicely tipped, would like a little more stop. Good length of neck, nice top line. Still at the leggy stage. Showed well and moved OK.

JUNIOR BITCH 3
1st KILBY’S LYNDI INTUITION 16 mths very much liked this very pretty, very feminine little bitch with beautiful ears, eye and expression. In good coat with huge white ruff, beautiful bodyshape, all in proportion with good topline, angulation and bone. Would have liked her a fraction taller. Showed very well on a loose lead, strong mover tracking straight on strong legs. Considered for Res.GS.
2nd CARMICHAEL’S GOLDENBAR SWEET DREAM OF KILCHRENAN. Very nice light shaded S/W 16 mths. Nice eye and stop, ears slightly wide set, good length neck and back, good shoulder and stifle angulation. Moved OK but not as strongly as 1. Showed well. 3rd PHILIP’S ABERQUARRIE SWEET DREAMER AT PHILJANCO.

NOVICE BITCH 2
1st & Res.Bitch GS FOREST’S SWEET CHARDONAY 22 mths delightful bitch, really took my eye. Balanced proportions all through and nice size. Lovely feminine head, obliquely placed eye, good stop, nicely tipped ears, all adding up to a melting expression. Good topline, well laid shoulder, good spring of rib, angle of stifle. Excellent bone , very nice show stance, keen springy mover, tracking straight.
2nd MACRAE’S ROANBURN CHERRY CAKE AT BENUASAL.

GRADUATE BITCH 7 (2A)
1st WARE’S SUNDORNE SIMILARITY AT Wassail RAF

3yo tri, very sound, compact and well boned, abundant jet black coat and very flashily marked. Good head planes, correctly placed eye and stop, super alert ears, head in proportion to body. Plenty of lung and heart room and good spring of rib, excellent bone. Strong mover, tracking very straight and never took her eyes off her handler when showing.
2nd FORREST’S ESKMUIR CLASSIQUE 1 ¾ years. Very golden sable with feminine head, almond eyes well placed ears and super expression. Nicely made, lacked a bit of concentration but moved and showed OK.
3rd TIERNAN’S ROWLANDS MISS MINIE.

LIMIT BITCH 8 (4A)
1st McARDLE’S SLIEVEMAC PRETTY ‘N’ PRECIOUS 2 ¾ yrs. Quite a regal looking bitch, a little reluctant to use her ears but a picture when she did. Good head pattern with well placed eye and stop and rounded muzzle. Really good length of neck and back and firm topline. Good stifle and shoulder angulation and plenty of bone.Moved very well and when she decided to showed well.
2nd CARMICHAEL’S KILCHRENAN
KRYSTAL ICE. 5 yo strongly built blue merle, colour well broken up. Balanced head in proportion with balanced body. Correctly placed eye and stop, kind expression, ears set a fraction wide. Good neck, angulation, firm top line, excellent bone. Moved well.
3rd KELLEHER’S ROUGHRIGG FEMME FATALE.

1st, Bitch GS & BOB FARRELL’S I CH. GBCH BELRAH CASUAL SURPRISE.

4 ¾ years old. Golden S/W. Superb showgirl in full bloom who gave a really polished performance. Great profile from nose, along reachy neck and firm topline which had just the right slight rise over the loins down to well set tail. Well balanced clean head set on lovely arched neck, muzzle well rounded, stop just right, correct almond eye and beautifully positioned ears. Well laid back shoulder, plenty of lung and heart room, good spring of rib, nicely curved stifle, good bone. Moved and tracked really well, Pleased to award her BOB.
2nd WALL & CAHILL’S DALLYHAA DAINTY DOLL. Lovely tri bitch, 4 ½ years old. Even her reluctance to use her ears didn’t detract from her quality. Great all over shape. Sweet head and expression, super well placed eye. Very balanced clean cut head planes. Good bone, well proportioned body with good angulation. Strong parallel legs, showed enough and moved very well.
