It was a great honour to be invited to judge Best in Show. I always enjoy this club’s show as there is such a friendly atmosphere and thank the Committee for all the hard work they put into organising the shows.
BIS was between two young dogs both just under two years old. They were both lovely examples of their breeds and I was splitting hairs picking the winner. Brown’s b/m Rough Collie Jopium Cool Dude For Metrissa was awarded BIS. I found him to be a well balanced dog, Lovely strong bone, good angulations and reach of neck. Well coated with a harsh top coat and rich tan markings. He had a lovely expression from well placed eye and stop. Well rounded muzzle and correctly set ears. A very sound dog and moved with confidence. Beautifully presented. I’m sure we will be hearing more of him.
RBIS went to the Smooth Collie tri colour White’s Foxearth Frappuccino. A fine upstanding dog again very well constructed and had a lovely clean wedge head and a kind gentle expression. Good ear carriage and slight stop. Good reach of neck and good front and rear angulations. Well muscled and moved very well.
BOS went to Tame’s Rahlissa Ain’t Misbehavin a very feminine 5 yr old s/w bitch. Lovely clean head and sweet dark eye. Long neck, well placed shoulder and good length of back. Strong hind quarters. In full coat which was beautifully presented. Moved well.
Robinson’s tri Smooth Collie bitch Ch Hilltarn Valentine JW also challenged for BOS and was awarded BVIS. 9 yr old lovely feminine bitch with a kind soft expression. Very clean head and good ear carriage. Has a beautiful outline and moves very well, keeping a level top line.
The Rough Collie veteran Philpin’s Little Caramel Jem At Tudorlyn was a beautiful shaded s/w in lovely coat and condition. A credit to her owner. Moved freely and pushed Valentine very hard but just felt the Smooth Collie had the cleaner head.
BPIS went to the Rough Collie Scott’s Chantique Simply A Dreamer won over the Smooth puppy Leach’sManordeifi Dionysus At Hilltarn on maturity. Lovely moulded head, correctly placed stop and sweet eye. Flat skull and good ear carriage. Heavily coated but well presented. Good front angulation and covered the ground well. Just needs to muscle up more at the rear end but time is on his side.
