Len Pearce “Our Dogs” reviewed
this book, commencing this attractively produced book, that contains
246 pages of well written text, easy to understand, nicely supplemented
by many appealing colour photographs, is designed to help all dog owners,
whether they are first timers or life long owners.
Although there are many of this type
of books on the market, this one is very comprehensive. It is in ten
sections starting with the origin of the dog and its evolution from
the wolf, to making the right choice of dog, preparation, introduction
into the home and its upbringing, training and health care. Each of
the 10 sections has its own chapters, making a total of 28 chapters
dealing with alternative therapies.
From the contents it is clear that the
authors have a great deal of experience in the topics covered, making
the book both interesting and valuable reading. The layout of the book
makes handling easy to manage. The reviewer liked, in particular, the
fact that inside the standard and attractive hardback cover, the pages
are ring bound, quite a unique and helpful layout. The index is also
very comprehensive together with appendices including the classification
of breeds and useful addresses. As this is an American book, some of
the addresses will be of little value.
