The first Collie I recall being captivated by was a Rough sable bitch called Sandy who belonged to my uncle. As a child I spent many memorable Sundays in her company, but it was several years before I would be privileged to have a dog of my own.

Since then there have been many Collies at Rowvale, some well-known show winners, some simply much-loved pets, but all of them have had the superb temperament and loyalty that make our breed such a perfect family companion.

We invite you to browse the following page, and meet some of the delightful characters who during the last 20 years have made Rowvale their home.

The first Collie at Rowvale was a Tri-Colour male Rough by Ch Dameral Aristedes. Monty was a much-loved pet, and although not really much of a showman, he and I had a great deal of fun.

Our first Smooth show dog was Laureats Love in the Mist, a blue-merle grandson of Ch Chicnoir The Look of Love, whom we aquired as a young adult in 1986.

Matthew and I learned a lot together, and I still consider his first RCC under Trevor Hayward at Birmingham National, to be one of our most exciting wins.

Matthew was soon joined by two young bitches, a blue merle, Lilymead Quite a Lady at Rowvale[Meg], and a tri-colour Southcombe Solitaire at Rowvale [Morag].

Although Meg had a successful show career, it was Morag who would steal the limelight. At Crufts in 1995 she won Rowvale's very first CC and went on to BOB; it was certainly one of our most memorable wins to date.

Morag went on to gain her title three months later, and in 1996 produced our first home-bred litter to the breed CC record holder, Ch Sharidon Silver Phantom at Foxearth.

This litter turned out to be more successful than we could have possibly hoped, producing three Champions, Rowvale Dream Racer, Rowvale Rose Marie and Rowvale Rainbow Warrior [owned by Di Howe].
