The
Rifflesea's were founded in 1943 with the purchase of a sable bitch
puppy from Mrs George of the famous BEULAH Collies. She was called
Beulah' Golden Fantasy and was to have a unique influence on the breed.
Mamy well-known winners, including the Crufts dual Best of Breed winner,
Ch Samhaven Toast trace directly back to her.
Our
first Challenge Certificate was won in 1947 by a ten month old dog
puppy who went on to become Ch Lad of Ladypark. This was the first
of many CC's won by the legendary Ladypark kennel but their first
Champion was Ch Rose of Ladypark who was a wedding present to myself
and my first husband Dr Ken Collins who always handled the dogs in
the ring. Rose and Lad produced three champions for us and had a major
influence on the Collies of that era.
One
of their daughters was mated to Lad's brother Ch Lochinvar of Ladypark
and was sent out ot Brazil. She was called RIFFLESEA RHODA and from
that one bitch all the world famous LAKEFIELD Collies are descended.On
my remarriage in 1975 I continued my breeding programme and was joined
some 15 years ago in partnership by Pam Derrick who always accompanies
me to the shows and takes care of our Collie nursery.

We
still have his daughter Ch Rifflesea Rhapsody, now nearly 14 years
old but who still walks 5 miles a day, and Rifflesea Romance of the
Rose and her mother Matai Little Cherub of Rifflesea who is 13, a
tribute to the health of our dogs.
