Sadly
I had to stop showing Oakaville Sparkling Sorbet [Anna] due to a
nasty accident to her hips...but she is happy being a couch potato. So
my showing hopes rest on
OAKAVILLE
MACEDOINE [Maverick]
At
the end of 2000 and beginning of 2001, Maverick won many Best Puppy
awards at Open shows and a few of these with Best of Breed. During
his Junior months he started to win at Championship shows but unfortunately
because of the foot and mouth crisis there were not many shows around
and he finished his Junior career short of just 3 points for his
Junior Warrant. However during 2002/3 Maverick excelled himself.
At Richmond Champ. show I thought I would be cheeky and put him
in Limit Dog and it paid off because he won it and gained his Stud
Book number under Pat Lister. At nearly every All Breed Open shows
he was entered in to Maverick won BOB, he also won many Groups at
these shows too. However at Wickford & Basildon which was not
judged on the group system, he did even better and won Reserve Best
in Show. One of my favourite shows is Clacton on Sea which is held
in conjunction with the Tendring Agricultural show. At this show
Maverick was placed 3rd for Best in Show out of the 42 Best of Breeds
that stayed. We went over to the Munster Circuit in Ireland where
at Clonmel he won a Green Star. At Champ shows Maverick was getting
many high placings quickly winning his way out of Graduate and Post
Graduate. He started to win some Limit classes but not quite getting
that elusive green card.........but getting lovely write-ups from
the judges.Along came Crufts in 2004. Maverick was entered in Limit
Dog and as this was the largest class of the day it ended up clashing
with the Smooth Collie judging so my lovely step-daughter Estelle
handled him in the big ring for me and she came running out with
a big red rosette in her hand and an even bigger grin on her face.
I can't believe I missed my Maverick winning his class at Crufts!!In
August 2005 we already had a holiday booked in lovely Aviemore in
Scotland. I talked my partner into letting me enter the Scottish
Kennel Club Champ. show and so we stopped off on the way back. Well
I think the long walks did Maverick good as he seemed to ultra fit.
Lyn Westby was our judge and what a day. I still can't believe he
won the C.C. but to get BOB as well was totally mind blowing. It's
a day I will never forget.......................only took me 24
years to get my first ticket, just have to hope now that he can
get the other two..........and hope it doesn't take tooooooooooooooo
long.
