Ever
since I was a child, I had always loved dogs and my first dog was
an Alsatian. My interest in Collies started with a book I read as
a child, “Black Bob”, a tale about a fictional working
collie and I still have this book today. When
a teenager I worked as a kennel maid in the well known German Shepherd
kennel of the Eveley Prefix, owned in partnership by Mrs Tidbold and
Miss Lancaster. I was married in 1960 and my first two Rough Collies
were a bitch, Crosstalks Ladybird and the bitch, Heidja of Holmlands
which was all Ladypark breeding.but was bred by Mrs Thompson. Heidja
was mated to Champion Legend of Ladypark owned by Miss Grey who resided
in Ripon .In 1966 my Lestine Lochwinnoch, of Arcot fame, was mated
to Champion Danvis Duffer. From the mating I retained a dog, Camanna
Golden Sensation, but at 9 months of age, I sold him to Tom Purvis
and he then won Best Of Breed at Crufts in 1968, and was made up as
a champion by Hazel Collins the same year and so he became Champion
Danvis Camanna Golden Sensation.

As
well as the book “Black Bob” I was also influenced into
my love of Collies by returning two Collies to their owners, hoteliers
of Middlesbrough The Collies, a tri colour and a sable and white,
kept escaping. I obtained my Prefix in 1967/68 , Camanna, from the
nickname of my father inlaw, Cammy, and Anna, one of my names being
Anne.I
made up my first Champion in 1979, Arranbrook Summer Wind of Camanna,
her three Challenge Certificates being awarded by Ena Clarke, Jill
Oliver and Shirley Keith. My
other Champions were Ch. Pied Piper of Aberhill at Rixown, Ch.Camanna
Chicken George, Ch. Can This Be Me at Camanna, out of a sister to
Chicken George, Ch. Arranbrook Weekend Miss at Camanna, Ch. Camanna
The Craftworker, and Ch. Camanna Cindy Crawford. Camanna The Copyist
has two CC’s, Camanna Carla Lane has 1 CC and One Reserve CC.
I
first judged Rough Collies at Open Show level in 1976 at Sunderland,
and first awarded Challenge Certificates at Scottish Kennel Club in
1982. I have also judged many times in Italy and my first appointment
at Breed Club Open Show level was at Northumberland & Durham Collie
Club in 1979.
My
favourite dogs Ch. Pied Piper of Aberhill at Rixown, Ch. Chicken George,
Ch. Camanna The Craftworker, Sangreat Sirocco, Ch. Brettonpark Whatziz

at Lynway, a tri colour bitch owned by the “Lynway Clark's)I
have repeated the mating that produced Ch. Camanna Cindy Crawford
and retained the only bitch in the litter but only time will tell
if that bitch will be as good as Cindy.
