I fell in love with Rough Collies when my parents bought me Eric Knight's novel "Lassie Come Home" later turned into a movie [of which I attended many, many screenings at my local cinema [back in the 1940's]. I just had to have a "Lassie" but, as things turned out, I had to wait until I was married, with children who wanted a family pet. I knew of a local breeding kennel, where I made my first tentative enquiry, the result of which was welcomed into our home as just "Poacher". Now, "Poacher" had a very famous father called Champion Pattingham Pacemaker, who won the whole of the [then] Non-Sporting Group at Crufts in Feb.1964 - just 4 months after I had purchased his son.

So I decided to show "Poacher". From very small beginnings [3rd, 4th & 5th placings] I eventually reached, what was for me, dizzy heights with this dog, Best in Show at Breed Club open shows etc. His final foray into the show ring being at Crufts 1970 when he won his second reserve Challenge Certificate at 7 years of age. By then, being well and truly bitten by the bug, I had acquired one or two bitches and started the breeding programme taking out the affix "Bhyllsacre" in 1967. Four years later, my first champion was born taking her Ist CC in 1973, making up her title in 1974, Champion Bhyllsacre Dream Girl, never bred on, but her dam, Antoc Make Believe is behind all of my present day collie.

I am very proud to have bred the incomparable Champion Bhyllsacre Querida Mia, BOB CRUFTS 1982 who is still remembered by so many top-liner judges as one of the best rough collies they have ever judged....

"Mia" was one of three bitches kept at these kennels, who have produced two champions in one litter [Champion Bhyllsacre Mia'ly A Dream and Champion Bhyllsacre Mia'ly Golden], the others being; Bhyllsacre Hi-Society [Ch.Bhyllsacre Just So, Ch Bhyllsacre Just Kate, another Group winner] & Ingledene Ria'ly A Love [Ch Ria'ly Famous at Bhyllsacre, Ch Ria'ly Wanna Be Loved at Ingledene].
