| We went to a training club in Wolverhampton where we met long-standing breeders, Mrs Cozens [Bhyllsacre] and Mrs Franklin [Pattingham] and also went to watch a few shows in the area, Birmingham Champ and Midland Collie. At the latter we saw Mrs Cozens with her Bracken of Bhyllsacre and in 1989 we contacted her and bought our first dog namely, Bhyllsacre Troubador. We took out our affix shortly after, Rusforth, coming quite simply from the first three letters of our surname and the "forth" from our street name. | ![]() Bhyllsacre Troubador at Rusforth [1989-2002] |
| We really got "bitten by the bug", going regularly to a training club in Bromsgrove, where we met Janet and Vince Bradbury [Dyersbridge], who were there with their first show dog, Pippin. We struck up a friendship with them and attended our first "proper" show together, Janet handling Pippin at that time, making a day of it, entering all the various classes we could up to the AV classes at the end of the day.. This we did at most of the shows making it a long day but enjoyable with some days better results than others. Eventually we went back to Rene Cozens for yet another dog, this time Robbie [Bhyllsacre Golden Chance]. Robbie did very well for us winning his Junior Warrant. | ![]() Bhyllsacre Golden Chance at Rusforth [1991-2001] |
| Our
interest in showing continued and we asked Rene about having a bitch puppy
and in late 1991 we came home with Tara [Layfette Shades of Delight at
Rusforth]. She was a little treasure, so full of herself, and as a youngster
so unpredictable. At some shows we were asked if we fed her on "kangaroo
juice" as she hardly kept one foot on the floor. She did well for
us just falling 2 points short of her J.W. and we eventually decided to
take the plunge into unknown territory and have a litter from her. She had her first and what proved to be her only season in 1993, so it was just as well we mated her.. We put Tara to Ch. Brilyn Rum 'N' Black and she gave us 6 lovely puppies. From this litter we kept, Cherry, Tiffany and Bruno. We were so very sad to lose Tara at such a young age in 2001. |

| Cherry was very much like her mother, loved showing and went mad everytime she saw the show bag appear. She won a Reserve CC at 14 months at the Blackpool Championship show under judge, Mrs Joyce Mann. She took time out for a litter and then came back in the ring in 1996 and won 2 CC's at London Collie Club Judge Mrs E Robinson [Claredawn] and at Leeds Champ show, Judge Mr Arthur Lumb both with Best of Breed. She also took another Res. CC at the SWKA, Judge Mr J Kirk. Finally in 1998, Cherry gained a further 2 CC's at WELKS and Birmingham Nat. under Judges Mrs E Oliver [Amberglen] and Mrs R Cartwright [Drenoss]. |

Later
in 1998 Cherry had another litter by Ch. Ria'ly Famous at Bhyllsacre,
from which we kept a dog and bitch, Kevin and Whitney. We had intended
to show Cherry after the litter but unfortunately when her pups were
5 weeks old she broke her leg, in the worst position, at the joint,
which meant we could not show her again. In late 2001 she was taken
ill with an AID, with complications, and we lost her in the September
aged just over 8.Although being very lightly shown due to a variety
of reasons Kevin did win his Junior Class under Denise Wainwright [Drenoss]
at Nat. Wkg. Breeds in 1999 and in June 2003 at Blackpool Champ. show
both Kevin and Whitney did well, gaining their Stud Book numbers, with
Kevin being 2nd in Open Dog and Whitney being 3rd in Open Bitch, under

| In 1997 we bought in a bitch from Mrs Chris Black [Chrisarion] who later in 1998 produced a lovely litter for us, from which we kept a bitch, [Patch], Rusforth Pa Solsidan. Patch gained her Stud Book Number in 2003 coming 2nd in Open Bitch at the Lancs & Cheshire Ch Show Judge Eleanor Kitchen [Seriema]. Her litter sister Rusforth Intermezzo [Amber] living with Avis and Pete Annable of Avisette Collies. Amber has done very well and gained the Reserve CC under Mr D Crapper at Northumberland & Durham CC Champ show. Amber has been consistently placed well at all Champ show and Open shows since she has been a puppy. | ![]() Rusforth Intermezzo at Avisette [Amber] |

| In 1997 we had struck up a very close relationship with Margaret Harris of Worcester [Perryswood]. Margaret purchased a tri bitch from Rene Cozens Bhyllsacre Black Cilla and her hope was to produce from Pippa a blue bitch. So in 1999 we trooped up to the north of England to mate Pippa to Wicani Nights in White Satin and she produced a lovely litter from which we acquired Crystal, Perryswood Blue Chrystal at Rusforth. She is the most laid back dog we have ever had and she did extremely well as a puppy and just missed her Junior Warrant through loosing her coat. Due to Margaret's untimely death in 2000 we now have here at Rusforth Crystal's mother Pippa. | |

n 2001 due to unfortunate circumstances that arose in Boston we aquired a little Smooth Collie, namely Carrie. We have found that Smooths are totally different to Roughs and she is very often called "a noisy baggage" by David!!! but the advantage to us is that she is very good at exercising the Roughs as she is never still for a minute and doesn't allow them to stay still for long....

Carrie now aged 7 - she thinks she is Lord of the manor!!
