I had been interested in collies from a young age, as a child I begged my parents for a dog but they weren't having any of it. I grew up in England [Birmingham] on a large housing estate. When I was 16 and working I had the money to buy my own dog and thats what I did in 1976. When my parents saw the dog they gave in trying tp deter me. I bought a puppy bitch from a pet shop and called her Sheba. Pure little mite was sick for a week or so but after a couple of trips to the vets and lots of t.l.c.she came through it all. At that time I knew nothing about the breed except Lassie on the television...I had great fun with Sheba. I was hooked on them at this stage so I decided to breed from her. She wasn't a great specimen of the breed so I found a nice dog of good breeding to put her to. She had a litter of 5 puppies from which I kept a bitch. Not a bad puppy, a big improvement on her mother.

I showed her a few times around the Birmingham area before moving home to Ireland...She was a great pet and like her mother lived until the age of 12 when arthritus got the better of her. Then in 1974 I bought another pet as a companion to move into my new house and it snow-balled from there to where you see me now and loving every minute of it.
The name MOYHILL came from two names of villages where I once lived here in Ireland and the other from a place I lived in Wales years ago. My aim is to have, show and breed nice Rough Collies. I like the old fashioned larger, well constructed type, as to the newer smaller, teddybear like type.
