OUR HISTORY....

Hello and Welcome to LADNAR COLLIES.

It was back in 1984 that we purchased our first Collie. On contacting Mr & Mrs Bellinger of the then Jurassic kennels we were told there was a litter of sable & white puppies so off we went with "Lassie" in mind.

However on arrival at the kennels I happened to see something I had never seen before - blue merle puppies - I fell in love with this colour and just had to have one. I must admit I still have a soft spot for the blues. Anyway, home it was, not with a sable as first intended but with a little blue fluff ball called Duke. His sire was Beechmere Boy Blue, and the dam Jurassic Blue Ribbon.RCC. He was of Clickham, Pattingham and Able Seaman lines.

In 1985 we purchased another puppy from the Jurassic kennels. A tri-colour bitch "Zoe" sire - Damirhyan The Dealer 2CC's and dam- Yellow Ribbon of Jurassic. This beautiful young lady was bred on Arrester lines. It was intended to show her but due to the children being small we didn't quite make the more serious side of showing. After a while Zoe was mated to Beechmere Boy Blue combining many old lines.

We kept a blue bitch "Bella" - Blue Blaze Away of Ladnar, although heavily marked with black [ well for some anyway] she had a most beautiful temperament and expression. Sadly in 1991 we lost Duke to cancer so we decided to mate Bella to Jurassic Jack-in-Box and from this litter we kept, well I never, another blue, "Zak" Ladnar Saint August Blue. A big lad although not a true showman he did a fair amount of winning and he keeps us on our toes with some of the tricks he gets up to.

After a lot of researching pedigrees and trying to find a stud dog of the type we like I approached Val & John Geddes of the Ingledene Kennels. So in 1997 Blue Blaze Away of Ladnar had a short love affair with Int. Ch. Ingledene Power of Love and from this litter we kept a tri-colour bitch, in fact one of only 2 bitches of a litter of 9. "Lucy" Ladnar Tantara, a very head strong bitch [well who wouldn't be with all those brothers]. This young lady put us on the map picking up BP & Group placings, known for her good conformation and movement.

Ladnar Tantara

Ladnar Red Ramonia
In 1999 our very first sable litter was born.
Ingledene Slave to Love/Ladnar Tantara.
From this litter we kept the well- known
Ladnar Red Ramonia.
Bonnie's show career went beyond all our dreams.
At her very first show, at the tender age of 6 months and 1 week, she was BP & BPIS All Breeds.
She went on to get another 2 BPIS & RBPIS all before 9 months of age and BPIB SKC Ch. Show.
Bonnie retired from the showring for maternal duties
with a total of
12 B.P.I.B.; 13 BOB; 6 Res. BOB and 10 Group placings.

In 2001 Bonnie was mated to her half brother, Ingledene Love is the Drug JW 5 RCC's and from this litter we kept the well-known Ladnar Red Rupet JW [Elton]. Following in his mum's footsteps he has to date won 14 BPIB's, 7 BOB's, several Group placings and 3 RBPIS's.Some of Elton's most memorable achievements are BPIB & RBPIS Stafford All Breeds, BP ROpp Sex National Working & Pastoral, BPD BOS in Show EACA Open Show, BPD, BPIB, RBPIS Smooth Collie Open Show, BPD National Ch Show, BD, BOSIS EACA Open Show all to name a few. He has been consistently placed at all shows attended resulting in him achieving his Junior Warrant.

His litter sister LADNAR RED ROWENA [Stella] although somewhat overshadowed by Elton, did however have her fair share of BP, & BOB's and went one better by gaining a BPIS. Stella then took time out in 2003 to rear a lovely litter of 7 puppies by Drenoss Infamous [Ch Sandiacre Sacre Bleu], out of this litter we kept the much admired Ladnar Ginger Rogers or Heidi as she is better known to her many friends. Stella managed to attend a few shows in between litters, achieving a nice selection of 1st's, BOB's, Group placing plus a nice placing at Crufts.

Katie had a fantastic day out at Crufts 2006 by coming away with Best Puppy Bitch

Ladnar Sweet Pea, [Emma],

Sire: Roassavon Addicted to Love at Ingledene JW. 1CC.
Dam: Ladnar Sucha Strugle

Emma is the dam to multiple championship show winner Ladnar Bitter Sweet 2CC and the Grandmother to our top winning Puppy 2005 and recently crowned Ch Ladnar Maid Sweet.

In 2003 Emma had a lovely litter of 9 pups, blues and tri's, by Ch Mayd Welcome at Atendus.
We have kept the loveable blue bitch

Ladnar Sweet Kristal [Mindy]

as she is known by her many friends.
After playing second fiddle to her kennel mate, Mindy decided that enough was enough so she put on the diamonds and best frock to woo the judges and it worked - not only did she take BPIB but BOB as well, short-listed to final eight for BIS then the icing on the cake BPIS. What a star, just goes to show everything comes to those who wait.
