JUNIOR HANDLING WORKSHOP/CLASSES

EACA is to reinstate its Junior Handling classes, commencing April 2012:

Junior Handling Workshop – FREE, one-hour training sessions are being arranged on show mornings between 11.00 am and 12 noon. This is a great opportunity for the juniors to practice their handling skills before competing in the Junior Handling classes.

2 Junior Handling classes will be scheduled at all EACA shows:

 Class A – 6-11 yrs
 Class B – 12 – 16yrs

These will take place during the lunch hour and entries must be made in advance in the usual way. JH’ing classes cost £2.00 per entry and the dog to be handled must also be entered in a breed class.

Pat Hutchinson & Cathy Howard welcome all aspiring junior handlers and novice adults too!

E.A.C.A. – JUDGES LISTS 2012

The E.A.C.A. up-grade their Judges lists annually and welcome new applications and up-dates for consideration.
This includes all submissions for both Rough and Smooth Collies, Breed and Non Breed Specialists.

An application form and flyer detailing the criteria for the lists are available from Lisa, either by post  upon receipt of an A4 SAE to the address below, or by e-mail.

C.V.’s must be received by February and will be reviewed at a meeting following the A.G.M. in March.  Please note applications will be dealt with in the strictest confidence, and all applications will be acknowledged once reviews have taken place.

Once compiled these lists will be used to circulate to General Breed Club Societies within the East Anglian area, to assist Secretary's in finding suitable persons for judging classes at Limited/Open show level.

EAST ANGLIAN COLLIE CONTEST for ROUGH & SMOOTH COLLIES - 15 JANUARY 2012

Judges - Marilyn Clark [Breed Specialist]
Jane Lilley [Allrounder]

We had 35 entries, with just 3 absent. We had 5 veterans, 10 pups and 17 adults present. Over 50 folk stayed for the delicious carvery afterwards, and were bamboozled by Lisa Pettitt's tough general knowledge quiz! The Almonds won it yet again! Lots of fun was had
with Christmas crackers - there were a lot of sets of marbles inside (so, many jokes ensued) and poor Robyn Arnall ended up being so polite accepting about 10 sets! (kids don’t play with them nowadays...)
Anyway - some more news for you - our next event is on Sunday 18th March, again at Littleport Leisure Centre - starting at 9.30am. Royal Canin are doing a Nutrition seminar - with freebies for all who attend. Following on will be Bill Lambert of the KC who is going to be talking about the Assured Breeder Scheme - a great opportunity to find out more. Our AGM will follow at 2pm. The seminars will be free to members of EACA, and £5 for non members.
Please contact Hon Sec Miranda Blake on 01636 626321 or email
miranda@corydoncollies.co.uk
Hot drinks will be provided, but lunch is not included, though can be purchased at the bar.

EAST ANGLIAN COLLIE CONTEST for ROUGH & SMOOTH COLLIES - 16 January 2011

There were 8 dogs absent on the day – but only 1 owner missing – folk came for the social, plus the lovely rosettes and the Royal Canin – so much of it that I had to get dad to bring it for me this time! The judges, Dianna Spavin and Bev White worked really efficiently to finish on time, and were unanimous in their decisions

We had 70 sitting for the 2 course carvery, and Lisa Pettitt did a great quiz on famous dogs from the media, which was won by the Almonds, with Marianne Benton 2nd and Terri Maxwell 3rd. I think moving it to a Sunday and using the Main downstairs hall really helped – so much more room and better for the dogs, as well as including Res BOB winners from the area-Miranda
