Collis and I had exhibited Bearded Collies successfully for many years.
Then in 1977 we decided to add Border Collies to our kennels as they were
in those days presented in the show-ring as natural as possible. So it
was much less work in grooming the Border compared to grooming the Bearded
Collie. Cassius, the Border Collie was given me by my partner Joyce Collis as a birthday present when he was 5 weeks old, I soon show trained him and made breed history gaining his three C.C.'s to become the first Show Champion in the breed. He was also the first in the breed to win BOB at Crufts in 1982. Cassius was the top winning dog that year and the first Border Collie to be invited to compete at the Contest of Champions. He finished 8th out of the 32 all breed Champions entered. The quality off-springs from Cassius and his son Sh.Ch.Beagold Louis were soon making their presence felt both here and on the continent, especially after we had combined their bloodline with our New Zealand import Sh.Lux.Ch. Clan-Abby Silver Kiwi at Beagold. The combination of two strong lines, inbred or line-bred have over the years produced quality top winning dogs in the show ring, in obedience, Agility, search and rescue. This combination has produced many Border Collies dogs and bitches that are trained in so many different activities here and abroad. We have always maintained that we breed top quality Border Collies that comply with the standard, we prefer to show our dogs and bitches but there is no reason why new owners cannot choose whatever activity they prefer to take. |
