We are Mrs Joan Evans and Mrs Nina Rowlands [Mother & Daughter!] and we have owned this delightful breed for over forty years! My Mother and my late Father bought their first Sheltie on return from honeymoon. Their house seemed so quiet without a dog as boths sets of my grandparents were also dog breeders and show folk....[Mr & Mrs W.J. Evans of Haverfordwest with Sealyhams and Mr & Mrs W.A.Harry with Pekingese]. Their first Sheltie came from Mrs Esme and the late Mr David Samuel of the Peterparc Shelties. Her name was Peterparc Pecottie. [I can only look back on family photos to appreciate her quality, as I was just a twinkle in my parents eyes at this stage!!].
My first Sheltie was bought for me when I was only 18 months old. Her KC name was Peterparc Papoose [Lassie to me]. I guess you can say the rest is history. My love for this breed grew and grew and we were devastated when my beloved friend died in her sleep aged thirteen. I was 14 by then, we had grown up together, I had dressed her up in silly costumes for school sports days and we would hide together under the stairs in thunder storms... Sadly my dad dies in 1992. Our sheltie at that time [Dimple] even visited him in hospital. He had told us "If you are lonely when I am gone, get yourselves another sheltie and start showing again. This we did and had a lovely girl called Croftmoor Country Charm at Paloalto [Lythwood/Landover bred]. We had now also applied for our own Kennel Club affix - Paloalto [this is the name of a town in America where Mum's late Auntie resided. We currently have eleven Shelties and two Pekingese. We bred our first litter in 1999, owning both sire [Rowancrest Rikki Rocket at Paloalto] and dam [Stevlyn's Jo'anna at Paloalto]. This litter resulted in the fabulous Paloalto Just William Sh CM [He has a page of his own]. We kept all the litter, well how could you sell my little Rikki's puppies!!! We hope you enjoy looking at our web pages. Please feel free to contact us.. A SHELTIE IS FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR SHOWING. |
