Open Show September 2012
Judges Critique

I would like to thank the officers and committee of West of England Collie Society for their truly great hospitality and for making my day so enjoyable. At every level it seems very clear that there is a very hard working and committed group of people running this show as every detail is attended to, making it a very professionally run show which was a pleasure to be part of.

Veteran Dog (4 entries - 2 absent)
1st - Patman & Grainger's SAMHAVEN DETOUR, masculine golden sable with lots of substance, well balanced head and nice eye although a little deep through and skull could be a little flatter, good ears, a little steep in upper arm, good hind angulation, well rounded in body and good bone, could be slightly longer in neck but he has good overall balance, firm topline, moved quite well although a bit reluctant.
2nd - Rae's CH ANTOC DARK MOON RISING, tricolour with a pleasant head although slightly deep through, eye a little round but good ears which he used well, a little steep in upper arm and I would like a longer neck, topline spoilt as he drops off at the croup and could be firmer on the move, in excellent coat which is of a good colour.

Minor Puppy Dog ( 2 entries - 2 absent)

Puppy Dog (5 entries - 3 absent)
1st - Houlding's SANDCOURT BLUE TEMPTATION, upstanding and handsome blue merle showing promise, his head is lovely with parallel head planes, flat skull, correct stop and beautiful moulding of foreface, he has a very nice eye, very nice body proportions with good reach of neck and well angulated front and back, lovely short hocks, he needs to firm up in movement as he is still quite 'gangly', coat fits his body and is of a good colour with excellent markings, Best Puppy Dog, Best Puppy in Breed.
2nd - Collins' TRIBURLE ZACHARY, golden sable with pleasant head and expression but could have a little better moulding of foreface, a little steep in upper arm and I would like a slightly longer neck, good length of body and hind angulation good, moved freely and well from all angles.

Junior Dog (7 entries - 6 absent)
1st - Lockyer's AARONWELL AGENT BARNABY, masculine tricolour with good moulding of foreface, for me his stop is too pronounced and back skull not balanced in length to foreface, eye a little round, good ears, his neck could be slightly longer but he is well angulated front and back, moves freely and well from all angles but with a slightly roached back, in very good coat and condition.

2nd - Scamp's MARKETDENE THE ONE AND ONLY, upstanding shaded sable, clean and well balanced head with a nice eye, flat skull, a little short in neck and could be better angulated front and back, long back and firm topline, movement not as good as the winner.
