This CD by Nichol Wylie, shows how to train dogs with text, pictures and diagrams. Ms Wylie has 40 years experience in preparing dogs to herd stock on her working farm in Scotland.

Ms Wylie’s experience of herding stock with dogs is very extensive. She commenced in her teens helping her father on the farm, and had her own Border Collie at the age of 15 years, training it to do sheep work. Since then, she has had many dogs, some she trained and sold on, others were kept to work sheep and stock on the hills surrounding the farm, some of her dogs have illustrious breeding and others she couldn’t remember their breeding as they weren’t registered dogs.

Nichol could however, remember all of her dogs’ abilities and little habits. She did not compete with her dogs at sheep dog trials, even though her dogs were trained to trials quality; they were used to doing the practical job of herding stock on her large farm.

The CD is divided into paragraphs / chapters: Introduction, Dog Training, Current Border Collies at Breconside Farm, Problems and Solutions, Dog Training and Work, an Insight to Breconside Farm, and the Wylie’s dogs from the past. All is presented excellently on the CD and in colour. Herd training is laid out very clearly giving Nichol’s unique methods of training to prepare your dog for the job it was bred for originally.
